New Jeep electric range is coming to market by 2025 starting with the Jeep Recon and Wagoneer S. The said two models shall be available by 2024 in North America and Europe.

Strategy for New Jeep the EV transition

The mainstream automakers have started realizing the power of EVs and it’s not new to them that they did not realize the change coming. It all started with Tesla, which changed the course of the market. Mainstream automakers were quite reluctant to the adoption of EVs due to obvious reasons.

It’s not that conventional automakers are now realizing it but actually, they are forced to do so with the electric vehicles revolution. So is the case with the Jeep which is controlled by Stellantis and also has some of the high profile Brands in its kitty. New Jeeps have a definite roadmap and the brand is focussed on getting electrified all around. Total four models are on the envil taking shape for various markets and all of them will not be availble here in the US market.

Jeep is planning to have minimum of 50 percent of sales as EVs in US market and 100 percent of total sales in EU market by 2030.

New Jeep Recon

The new Jeep Recon is derrived from the Wrangler. It is that typically high sitting large wheel arched, bigger tyre beasts from which the new jeep recon is inspired. The Recon shall be offered in all electric version only.

Like the Wrangler, the Recon will be highly customizable, including removable doors and roof panels. Buyers will be able to “see a little bit of the Wrangler DNA infecting the design of the Recon, and thatā€™s not by accident,ā€ Jeepā€™s chief design officer Ralph Gilles said. For example, the Recon will have exposed door hinges like the Wrangler, which bucks the trend of sleek, aerodynamic body types for most EVs.

The Recon will be another in a long list of rugged, outdoor vehicles with the distinctive seven element grille in front. The EV will come with Jeepā€™s Selec-Terrain traction management system, as well as e-locker axle technology, under-body protection, tow hooks and off-road tires.

The new Jeep will be equipped with the Stellantis Uconnect software which will provide a detailed travel guide for the most known off road trails for offroading enhusuiasts. Shall be available by 2024 in US and can be booked early 2023. New Jeep Recon shall be sold globally.

Electric Jeep Avenger

The new Jeep Avenger shall be Europe only model. Because It makes sense that the automaker is targeting the European market first; Europe has a more mature EV charging network than the US, and EVs outsell gas models in many European countries, including Norway.

The Jeep Avenger will have a target range of 400 kilometers (248 miles) and will slot into the compact SUV market under the Jeep Renegade. Jeep didnā€™t provide any major details for the Avenger; the compact SUV will get a proper unveiling at the Paris Auto Show on October 17th.

But it did note that while it wonā€™t be available in the US, it will go on sale in parts of Asia, including Japan and South Korea. The EV will go into production at the automakerā€™s factory in Tychy, Poland.

Electric Jeep Wagoneer S

Yet another Jeep SUV is Wagoneer S, occupying the premium SUV territory, the Wagoneer S will likely have a very big battery, Jeep says itā€™s targeting a range of 400 miles on a single charge, 600 hp, and a 0-60 mph time of around 3.5 seconds. Wagoneer S is just a codename for now. (Gilles said the ā€œS stands for speed, striking, and sexy.ā€)

The Wagoneer S will be fully revealed next year, but based on the teaser images, it looks slightly less bulky than its gas-powered Wagoneer. Gilles said the interior space will be similar to the traditional Wagoneer, but the dimensions will be slightly smaller, with two rows instead of three. The Wagoneer S will also feature an LED grille, which is a growing trend in the EV market. The same kind of trend which we saw with DRL the day time running lights.

The all-new Wagoneer BEV will also be displayed to the public next year and production will start in 2024 in North America. Customers in the U.S. will be able to make a reservation for this all-electric Wagoneer model in early 2023. It will be sold in major markets around the world, including Europe.

There was no word on the price tag of the new vehicle. But carrying the premium emblam the price as per our guess would be upwards of USD 60K.

The Jeep brand has a legacy of almost 80 years and off road vehicles are the bread and butter of the company. The competerion is getting ferce in the EV space with almost all the mainstream manufacturers gearing up in the EV space. This was the not true till now for the Jeep. But as said per the above strategy and systematic roll out plans things are going to change good for Jeep it seems. Also the new tax credit policy shall be applicable for the new Jeep evs or not is not yet clear as the auto maker would ave to abide by strict materials for battery cell sourcing and assembly lines.
